Community Involvement is Stronger than Ever at Salon Success Academy
October ’15
We are much more than a beauty school; we are a community! At Salon Success Academy, we pride ourselves in being a people helping company. Our staff, instructors, and students across all five campuses live and breathe this philosophy every day. Our goal is to connect you with the communities where you live and work. We’ve worked with organizations, both large and small, including the United Way and the American Cancer Society.
We continuously reach out to our local community to see how we can help. On October, 27th, we attended the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration in Fontana, California. This tradition is common in many other cultures. For example, it’s an important Mexican holiday where they honor loved ones who have died. We hosted a makeup booth where we taught participants how to do sugar skull, special effects makeup and provided face painting for the children.
As the holiday season approaches, our community involvement becomes even more important. On November 1st, we’ll collect nonperishable items for the 18th Riverside Rescue Mission Food Drive. The baskets of food as well as prepared meals will provide for families in need. On November 5th, a guest speaker from Be the Match will give a presentation at the Riverside campus about the importance of being a donor. The current list of donors is about 67 percent Caucasian, meaning individuals of other ethnic backgrounds can have a harder time finding a match.1 If you’re a Salon Success Academy student and you’d like to help support this great cause, attend the presentation on November 1st. Current students are also welcome to dress casual on November 14th for a $2 donation to Be the Match.
During the upcoming holiday season, we look forward to providing families gifts off of their wish lists as well as food and clothing.
