Congratulations to our Student of the Year, Eva Perry!
Eva Perry has been named the 2012 Salon Success Academy Esthetician Student of the Year! It was an honor bestowed on her by Bioelements, the skin care line the students use at school, and the Director of Esthetics, Mr. Nick Alaniz. She happened to receive her award on the day of her graduation, which made the day extra special for her. Now she’s looking forward to starting her new career as a licensed esthetician and she has a bunch of new products from Bioelements to help get her started!
Before coming to Salon Success Academy, Eva was working in the real estate industry selling new homes. She had always been interested in working in the skin care industry, but felt like she couldn’t stop working long enough to pursue her education because of her young children. When the real estate market went under, Eva felt it was the perfect time to finally enroll in esthetician school!
Eva had toured the Upland campus of Salon Success Academy and felt it would be the perfect fit for her. She liked that the program was professional and that she could complete her training quickly. She also liked that she has been receiving her training straight from the Director of Esthetics, Mr. Alaniz. Once she started the program, she found that she loved being in school and helping out her classmates.
“Being a mom, I felt a responsibility to help out the other students and make sure everyone was always having a good time,” Eva said. “Everyone was having fun every day in that class! There was never a drop of negativity.”
When it was time to select the Student of the Year, Mr. Alaniz felt the choice was obvious. Eva had a great attendance record, high test scores, and was always going above and beyond in the classroom. Mr. Alaniz made the announcement during her graduation ceremony, presented her with a dozen red roses, and a gift certificate to Bioelements that she could use to start her esthetician kit.
“Eva is such a great person. She was truly a model student. She helped me out so much in class. I never had to ask, either. She just did it,” Mr. Alaniz said.
“I was completely surprised! I almost cried. I was just overwhelmed by all the nice things that people had to say about me,” Eva said.
Eva plans to take her State Board exam on January 4th. Once she obtains her license, she’d like to work as an esthetician in a dermatologist’s or plastic surgeon’s office. Fortunately, she’s already certified to do chemical peels and waxing from advanced training classes she took while she was at Salon Success Academy.
“I learned so much more than I ever expected in the esthetician program. I’m just so grateful for the experience and so excited about the future!” Eva said.

Fontana Students Flirt With High Fashion
Students at our Fontana campus were challenged to style their classmates’ hair and makeup in looks that were worthy of the runway. The finished look that was voted the most high fashion was styled by Ashley and modeled by Shayla. You can see more photos from our styling competitions on our Page on Facebook!
