Everything You Need to Know About Grooming for Men

someone who needs a little man grooming

From the hair on your face to the cuticles on your nails, here is everything you need to know about grooming for men:

Your Facial Hair

Facial hair can be a great way to enhance or hide your natural features. For instance, if you have a “baby face,” a beard tells otherwise. If you have a large nose, a full mustache can take focus off it. But whatever hair is on your face, you’ve got to make it look good. Tackle your beard by cutting it somewhere between your Adam’s apple and under your chin. Trim is in, but if you want a longer beard, make sure to keep it clean, and trim even a long beard to keep your hair is healthy. Mustache on your mind? As a general rule, when the hair starts to go over your top lip, it’s time to cut it back.

Your Skin

Your face may be 70% covered with facial hair but that doesn’t mean you can skimp on the sunscreen. Bearded or not, you still have skin and the sun will find it. Try a light moisturizer with sunscreen built in so you can kill two birds with one stone. Keep blemishes and oil at bay with a facial cleanser. Wash your face and beard every morning and night –no matter what game or event is on TV.

Your Hair

Always trim up the back and sides of your hairline before going on any important business deal or first date. Long hair? You want to rinse regularly, but you don’t necessarily want to wash it every day. Shampoo will strip your hair of essential oils. Brush the tangles out if your hair looks unruly, and snip the ends to keep your long hair healthy and styled.

Your Scent

Make sure it’s not of old gym clothes or sweat! Especially during the hot summer months, you’ll want to shower often and keep yourself smelling fresh throughout the day. One quick way to maintain some cleanliness is with a face towelette. Midday, use the towelette on your face and the back of your neck to get rid of unwanted dirt and oil. Spritz the sides of you neck and wrists with your favorite cologne once in the morning and once again in the afternoon – use less if you have a strong cologne.

Your Nails

Never had a pedicure or a manicure? No they aren’t just for girls! Men need to keep their nails in check too! Don’t want to go to a nail salon or spa? Cut your nails back and use a cuticle tool to push those back on your hands and feet after taking a shower.
