Halloween Makeup Tricks You Need to Know

Halloween makeup on female vampire

You’re a clown for Halloween and need to make a large batch of white paint. You need your lips to last through a night of candy eating trick or treating. Discover the Halloween makeup tricks you need to create your best costume ever. Here’s how:

Easy Cat-Eye

Meow! Do you want to be a witch’s cat? Or maybe a 1920s flapper girl with attention-drawing makeup. Create the ultimate cat-eye. First apply a light pencil liner to map the route around your eye for the look you want. If a freehand winged tip isn’t your style, use a metal spoon as guide. Close your eye and use the arch of the spoon as a curved ruler to create the look you want. Then, use a heavier liner or liquid to darken and thicken. Practice this method before the big night and you might create some super eye-catching eye styles.

Instant Liquid Liner

Come Halloween you need a lot and we mean a lot of liner to draw on those pesky whiskers or make the perfect zombie bride. So why not make your liner a liquid liner for super easy application? Take your chosen eye pencil and hold it under the flame of a lighter for just a second. Let it cool for 15-20 seconds, and then watch the consistency change right before your eyes. Finally, glide on your newly made gel liner – look at you hot stuff!

Foolproof Fake Eyelashes

Whether you sport oversized lashes for a baby doll costume or individually apply lashes for a more natural look, you need to apply the glue just right. Use a bobby pin! Apply eyelash glue to false lashes using the tip of a clean bobby pin to evenly disperse the glue along the base of the lashes. Wait a few seconds for the glue to get tacky and then apply!

Long Lasting Lips

For late night vampire kisses you need long lasting lip color. Simply swipe on your blood boiling shade, lay a tissue over your mouth, and then dust translucent powder over your lips to set the color. The translucent powder sets your swoon worthy shade making it instantly long-wearing while the tissue acts as a shield to your lip color, protecting it from lightening or losing its wow factor.

DIY White Makeup

Instead of buying white makeup for Halloween why not make it yourself? Use these household ingredients to create your own vampire or clown face base:

  • Mix 10 tbsp. of cornstarch with 2 teaspoon flour
  • Add 5 tbsp. of vegetable shortening to the mix
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon vegetable glycerin

Once you’ve mixed well, apply the coloring to your face with your fingers, brush, or sponge.

Zombie Princess

You’re a zombie princess in need of some killer fake blood – what do you do? Combine a cup of corn syrup, 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup, like Hershey’s, and red food coloring. Add as many drops as you need to achieve your desired red color. Use a coffee stirrer to apply the blood directly onto your skin.

Tip: If soap and water doesn’t remove the red stain after the party, wash your skin with a bit of toothpaste that contains baking soda.
