5 Ways to Create Kissable Lips You’ll Love

Are you getting ready to spend Valentine’s Day with that special someone? Are your lips ready? Here’s how to make sure:

Drink water and instantly revive your lips. Water is an all-around beauty super hero! You should have at least 8 to 9 glasses of water every day—even more if you’re active. Water will keep your body, skin, and lips looking fabulous!

Use a Humidifier

Not only will your lips thank you, but your skin will too. Your lips are drier and more chapped in the winter because there’s less moisture in the air. A humidifier will replace that missing moisture so you can say goodbye to dry, blistery lips and skin. But make sure to clean your humidifier regularly and replace its filter to avoid bacteria buildup as that will generate a whole new problem.

You must exfoliate your lips at least once a week. Just like you would exfoliate your face or use a mask to get rid of unwanted dead skin, your lips require the same attention. No scrubs handy? No problem, scrubs are super easy to make. Mix coconut oil and about one cup of sugar in a bowl and mix until all parts are combined and creamy. Just be careful of open sores or cuts on your lips.

Get Balmy

Forget lip gloss or lip stick. You need a balm, such as Chapstick or Burt’s Bees that is rich with ingredients like beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E and almond, jojoba or coconut oils to help moisturize and plump your pout. Vaseline is also a good protectant for your lips and other dry skin areas on your body.

Keep your lips safe with a layer of beeswax with an SPF of 30 or more even during winter. Why? Lips are incredibly susceptible to sunburn since they have very little melanin—the pigment that helps shield your skin from the sun. If you are in direct sunlight or on or near the ocean try zinc sunscreen. While your lips will take on the color of the zinc itself, your lips will be safe from harm’s way.
